Ross Valley Flood Tax Payments

A legal action on the Ross Valley Flood Tax is still in process. If the flood tax is found invalid, a taxpayer who has paid this tax may be able to recover taxes paid to Marin County. However, it is necessary to be careful in how you pay the tax in order to qualify for a refund.

Marin United Taxpayers Association recommends that Marin residents pay their property taxes as follows.

1) Enclose a note that states the following:

• "Regarding the flood fee encumbrance, I am paying under protest for the Flood Zone #9 watershed program."

• "FCZ9 Watershed prgm fee paid under protest"

Not following the above steps may result in a refund denial.
